much of this, if not all, can be sorted into an existing category.

There may be a need for a contests category however the others can fit elsewhere. Suggestions are still welcome.

This forum is not active enough to warrant so many subforums imo. I also agree that what we already have is sufficient and all those categories fall under one.

I think posting contests in announcements is fine personally.

I think if we have some of these categories it will be easy for users to post or read content and we can make it more active…
I can refer lot of people to this forum, if you promise to give me something for the people I refer….

If you are looking for a VPS, you need to get one like everyone else.

If the forum gets more active and it looks like we need more subforums, I'm sure dmmcintyre3 will add them.

Agreed. It's fine as it is.

The forum has worked very well so far. We don't want a huge amount of users (even because the number of VPS to give is limited), we want users that are interested in our offers and the subject of the website, and not those interested on spamming. The forum is about VPS and we don't need/want much overhead: many of the categories you suggested are offtopic.

Less relevant rambling below:
You and most people need to understand the ultimate goal of a forum is not to get incredibly big and with tons of users; sometimes things are even nicer when we stay small but close to the users. As an example, I give Slashdot (I think that can be called a forum, but a very advanced one): many older users in there believe the website was more interesting when it was reserved to a small minority, the geeks; now that it's grown a lot, the site kind of lost its own spirit (and I can feel that myself even though I only discovered Slashdot some years ago).

It looks like Infinity and f8ll came first... here're my thoughts anyways.
