RE: Install gnome (or KDE) and FreeNX - dmmcintyre3 - 06-15-2010 01:07 AM Try to wget the new version and decompress it. It might work then. RE: Install gnome (or KDE) and FreeNX - dmmcintyre3 - 06-17-2010 06:29 AM If you are nowhere near filling up your server's RAM, this makes it much easier to edit the conf files for everything or to work on your websites, provided that the latency is not really bad between your house and the VPS/Dedicated Server. RE: Install gnome (or KDE) and FreeNX - luis123456 - 06-17-2010 07:27 AM Rsmiley's VPS are on 1GBPS ports. Will they be fast or slower considering I have an 1mbps connection? RE: Install gnome (or KDE) and FreeNX - dmmcintyre3 - 06-17-2010 07:45 AM It's pretty decent on a 768kbps down connection to my VPS. It's supposed to be gigabit but I think it is a 100 mbps. The biggest issue is latency. RE: Install gnome (or KDE) and FreeNX - eSupun - 06-17-2010 07:57 AM (06-17-2010 07:45 AM)dmmcintyre3 Wrote: It's pretty decent on a 768kbps down connection to my VPS. RE: Install gnome (or KDE) and FreeNX - Sea4Me - 07-27-2010 01:07 PM I'm trying to start freeNX on my ubuntu VPS but I this error: root@server:/etc/nxserver# nxserver --start NX> 100 NXSERVER - Version 3.2.0-74-SVN OS (GPL, using backend: 3.4.0) mv: cannot stat `/var/lib/nxserver/home/.ssh/authorized_keys2.disabled': No such file or directory NX> 122 Service started NX> 999 Bye Any idea why? NVM I got it to work but it takes up over 1gb of ram... anyone know why? RE: Install gnome (or KDE) and FreeNX - luis123456 - 07-27-2010 02:57 PM It's easy: It's for acccesing a desktop on the VPS. Here Gpoogle Chromas, and a few programs take ~500 MB of ram. 1 GB is the minimum I use sometimes. You gotta have BIG RAM to run FreeNX and/or VNC properly. RE: Install gnome (or KDE) and FreeNX - Sea4Me - 07-28-2010 04:02 AM Lol VNC/NX takes up 2GB of RAM on openVZ. -.- RE: Install gnome (or KDE) and FreeNX - dmmcintyre3 - 07-28-2010 04:04 AM (07-28-2010 04:02 AM)Sea4Me Wrote: Lol VNC/NX takes up 2GB of RAM on openVZ. -.-It runs fine on a 256mb Xen VPS. |
