OpenVZ in Xen VPS
This guide was written specifically for the VPS11. I'm not sure if this will work on other vpses.
First, update your system using yum. yum update -y Install OpenVZ Change some settings in /etc/sysctl.conf. Open /etc/sysctl.conf with your favorite text editor. Edit these: net.ipv4.ip_forward = 1 kernel.sysrq = 1 Add this to the bottom: net.ipv4.conf.default.proxy_arp = 0 net.ipv4.conf.all.rp_filter = 1 net.ipv4.conf.default.send_redirects = 1 net.ipv4.conf.all.send_redirects = 0 Next, install some more packages using yum. yum -y install mkinitrd ed rsync Now, download the kernel. wget http://download.openvz.org/kernel/branch...3.i686.rpm Download OpenVZ utilities. wget http://download.openvz.org/utils/vzctl/c...1.i386.rpm http://download.openvz.org/utils/vzctl/c...1.i386.rpm http://download.openvz.org/utils/vzquota...1.i386.rpm Install the packages. rpm -ivh vzctl-3.0.29.3-1.i386.rpm vzctl-lib-3.0.29.3-1.i386.rpm vzquota-3.0.12-1.i386.rpm rpm -ivh ovzkernel-xen-2.6.18-274.3.1.el5.028stab094.3.i686.rpm Download an OS Template from http://wiki.openvz.org/Download/template/precreated. Put it into the folder /vz/template/cache Next, edit your bootloader config file. Open /boot/grub/grub.conf with your favorite text editor. vi /boot/grub/grub.conf Change default to 0. default=0 Then restart. I'll make a guide on how to share IP addresses and how to make the vps later. |

RE: OpenVZ in Xen VPS
you'd need to find the right kernel and test it yourself.

RE: OpenVZ in Xen VPS
With KVM you just install the OS like you would on a dedicated machine.

Second of all, you don't have a Xen VPS, so you wouldn't be able to try it. Please don't just say that you "tried it" or will try it just to make your post count go up and I've noticed this happen with other members as well, not just you. I'm sorry if I'm sounding bossy/bitchy (mods, delete that word if you don't like it), but it annoys me when that happens. |
