Install a Minecraft Server on a VPS 3 or 4

VPS3 has 1/4 a gig of ram . Would that even work to run the JRE ? I have yet to try running mc on a low ram VPS , but what's the max number of people it can host ? ( not sure ... )

yes it'll work with IBM's jre. Oracle's jre will give you some problems.

I believe you'd be able to host 5 clients easily, but I think ninetailfox97 or Deathproxy said they were able to get 20 clients on at one time.

just as a note, the 20 clients i mentioned before was in a concentrated area. i have had problems with just one person on crashing the server because they were to far from the spawn area.

When i try to download ibm's jre it gives me an access denied error and when i try to download it from the website it doesnt work

Even if i sign up and try to download it, i am not able to get past the part where u have to accept the terms

You could just find it off some were else like mediafire/megaupload/etc . And local install it in , after sftp'ing of course.

Yea . If it's possible to get it within Linux there's definitely a 3rd party mirror download site? Am I right?

no, afaik, the only place to download it is the ibm website.
