Not working for me either, perhaps I have to use my real CC to have a try of that.

Azure is not a VPS service. It's not like Amazon's EC2. You don't get a virtual server you can connect to in order to upload files, run apps, and administer.

Azure is a PAAS (platform as a service). You write a .NET package and upload it. You can pick which instance size it runs on, but that's it from a systems point of view. Yes, you can serve files, put up a web site, etc. but you're writing a .NET program to do it, not configuring IIS, etc. It's not at all like a Windows VPS.

There is a VHD (Hyper-V-created Virtual Hard Disk) service where you can upload a VHD you create and run it in Azure, and then it is like a VPS. However, you have to create the VHD yourself and you can only create those from a local Windows Server (i.e., you have to own Windows Server 2008 and create a VHD with its Hyper-V to use this feature).

Microsoft has been talking about enable Windows (RedHat Enterprise) or more VPS-like Windows, but it's still just a rumor at this point.
