You need to use lighter GUIs like FreeXN (NX?) Wink

FreeNX isnt a GUI its a client/server system that allows you to view the GUI of ur VPS(sort of like Remote Desktop)

the difference is, freenx is free, and goes through ssh. its really quite amazing if you have a good upload and download speed on your computer.

I think the gui installation on the vps will take lot of memory in the vps which cause load on the vps cpu you will do all things from command line interface ,for that the only thing you have to do is to learn some basics command of linux.

You can't use normal browser through the command line. Only text based browsers like "links".

yes as luis123456 stated, you can do it with X11 forwarding. NX will still probably be faster however and use less bandwidth.
