RE: How to build a computer from scratch
I didn't read it all, but I have some comments.

Motherboard: For general use, pretty much anything will do. Even micro ATX. Dual PCI-E slots or more are only really needed if you plan on using SLI or crossfire.

CPU: It's hard to compare speeds of different CPU architectures. i.e. A 2Ghz A6 is slower than a 2Ghz i7. I recommend looking at benchmarks and selecting whatever has the best performance for what you can afford.

RAM: People argue that more ram is often better than faster ram. i.e. (I'm using DDR2 in this example) 800Mhz 8Gb DDR2 ram generally faster than 1066Mhz 4Gb DDR2 RAM, depending on the application. At the same time we are in the age of 16Gb+ RAM, which is more than overkill for most applications. If you are overclocking or whatever, then speeds matter more if you are going for sheer clock speed.

PSU: I'd say getting a good one matters. Having worked in a computer store, I've seen power supplies die left, right, and center. Cheap ones don't last very long. Good ones can die however, i recently had a PCP&C PSU die on me recently, it certainly outlasted any cheap PSU though and it was still under warranty Smile . Higher end PSUs also have cleaner power and are more efficient if you care about that.

I'd also probably stress to make sure you install the motherboard standoffs, if they aren't already installed. On most good cases, they will be pre-installed in certain area, which may or may not line up with your motherboard. On cheap cases, they are rarely pre-installed. When I worked in a computer shop, a lot of people forget to install these and couldn't figure out why their computer wasn't working.

I will include these when/after i get my parts and add videos and pictures.
