It's hard to put into words since they (well heavy metal) are pretty similar. The original metal bands are generally considered Hard Rock today, such as Rush, Deep Purple. I listen to R&B, Pop, and some Jazz. I think thier good music types to listen too. Im not into rock as much. If I had to pick a favorite it'd be R&B. It's like it makes me feel bettter after a hard day and so does Jazz.

Yeah I would say that is the case too. Hard Rock still has some blues influence but heavy metal less and less. When I listen to metal riffs it's more technical. It's more like group of notes with mixture of flat E and G string (I don't know the order of strings on guitar but I know some stuff).
So I watched a guy called Metal Mike who explained something about it.
As for hard rock the way I see it riffs in hard rock are created by repeating basic and some other chords.

They sing "You can cry me a river of tears" but in way more different way
then Timberlake.

I listen to a bit of everything (minus rap)...... I listen to oldies quite a bit (The Beatles, Elvis Presley, The Beach Boys, etc), some Five for Fighting, some Aerosmith, a bit of The Fray... Not too much country though I have been a little more tolerant of it lately (I used to hate it)..

I just found out the Melvins, Alice Cooper, Iron Maiden, and Mastodon are coming to a festival in my city
I'm definitely going to see the Melvins (seen them before - great show), I'll have to see if I have money for the other days.
