He has a DDoS protected IP and services, which cost about 150$ or so..
I think he used those when we had it30 DDoS'd us, was apparently effective then.

Nope, he's using BuyVM's Aegis protection.

RE: DDoS Attack
Cloudflare will protect you from DDoS Attacks

it acts as a frontend for your website

if you add direct-connect

and direct as a record into cloudflare you made it so that the actual REAL ip address is hidden

you can also try reverse proxys or a datacenter that blocks Distributed Denial of service such as

RE: DDoS Attack
Wow, DDoS attack protection sure is costly, I've read some about firewall/software base solution to defend against DDoS, but they also said that it would not be enough if the attack is huge.

Thanks FreeVPS.us! for the free VPS and for all the knowledge that I've learned here at the forum.

They have said that cloudflare couldn't protect them.

RE: DDoS Attack
AFAIK, BuyVM are just announcing a /24 through Awknet, then tunnelling it back through to their racks.
FreeVPS is currently running on BuyVM's protected IPs, after a bit of a a setup blunder.

I'm not sure about that but there is never a whole lot of traffic here.
