[VPS] VPSBiT - Free Lithuania VPS - Review

This has caused a downtime of over 7 hours as I had no means to turn the server on due to being at work and not having my login details and keys. I don't know what happens. Had over 130 days uptime since the last reboot due to updates. I guess something went wrong with the host node again like last time when it was rebooted due to some issues.

Otherwise the service has been really great in the last months. No more issues with the network since a long time. Performance is still totally alright!

Uptime right now: https://stats.uptimerobot.com/1rNZ5SpWy (see CPUVINF)

Did you submit support ticket and asked them about it? I think they will be willing to tell you the reason for downtime
Thanks to FreeVPS Hostigation for VPS 18

The service is free and any additional administration no matter of what difficulty costs money. So I better not create any additional support ticket. The same issue has happened months ago. So I'm not all to bothered. Just wish they would start the servers up again.
Too bad they are not giving VPS servers anyway, haven't seen it not be out of stock for ages... RIP...

The VPS went down because we finally migrated to the new DC. It should all be back up. What's your IP? I can check it out for you.

The main reason we have not put up new stock is because we don't have an unlimited number of IPs. We're basically using a /22 for all this and that's about 1,000 free VPS we've given away and must maintain.

In order to get around this, I think we will be releasing new stock with IPv6 and NAT'ed IPv4 with some dedicated ports forwarded. IPv4 addresses would then be made available for an additional fee.

As we are running low on IPv4 addresses as is, we will stop restocking the free VPS that already have dedicated IPv4 as they get canceled, and instead bring those IPs onto our paid service as we have actually started renting more address space to meet demand.

Anyone interested in NAT'ed free VPS?

Hi randvegeta,

That is quite good. Great to know you've moved to a new DC. Did I miss any e-mail regarding the migration? I didn't get any notice about any move via e-mail.

I booted the VPS up myself. It works. Thanks though Smile .

EDIT: The interest in NAT'ed VPSs will be big. And especially in free NAT'ed VPSs. If you check the market for NAT'ed VPSs there are some big and very popular plays with thousands of customers on LowEndSpirit (multiple companies under one hood that sell NAT'ed services). So it is surely interesting.

Nope. Didn't send out any notification E-mail. The move took less than 30 mins and all VMs should have been booted up straight after the move.

Not sure why yours didnt come up.

As for why we didn't send out a notice.. well.. honestly.. laziness... A lot of things become 'can't be bothered'  when looking at the free service. We've already delayed the migration by like 6 months. Eventually we got fed up and just got on with it. Sorry for the downtime!
@randvegeta
Thank you for your great service.
I'd like to ask that current free customers how long can keep their IPv4 addresses?
@randvegeta It would be great if you set up NAT VPS. I believe there would be a great interest and I would be too. How much VPS do you plan to release with NAT IPv4 and IPv6? It would be great if you set up more VPS to giveaway. Smile
