[SOLVED] Chineese ip address trying to access root, what to do?
#11
I always find bots trying to probe standard ports. That is why i always do couples of things after getting a new vps. Changing the port to a non standard one. (no need to change the ip for that). Never set easy passwords and mostly use key based login.

I don't like the idea of banning ip. Cause those ips might soon host something valuable or may be those are victim machines.
Many thanks to Freevps, Chris (cw1998), The Guy( ID 4810), optimus, GHP and the other  staff members.

You should have a routine when you setup a new VPS. Mine is the following

1.) Change SSH Port
2.) Generate Authentication Key
3.) Create new user with sufficient access
4.) Deny Root Access
