From admins, i meant moderators too, forum was active before that time, around 1 year ago.

Not sure what instability you are talking about. I offered free vps through my business and decided to stop, the community picked up the slack and started getting sponsors. That doesn't make a community 'unstable'.

Competition in the free vps market is a healthy move, and we'll continue to be an alternative. I don't expect you to leave here and join us, in fact I discourage it. Our last go around we had people double posting here and there and it was messy. I'd like freevps.club to have a totally separate user base.

@Ignis is correct, I never handed over any control. Now I've got freevps.club and its related services on it's own server. We have a team communication platform similar to slack for our administrators to chat. Control has been given out for all the moving parts of the site except for DNS.

Looks like one of the admins appointed from this community has taken down freevps.club deliberately. I was able to capture the bash logs of root even though the machine was in the process of being deleted.

cat /vz/root/117/root/.bash_history
w
rm -rf /
cd /var
www
ls
cd www
ls
rm -rf freedomain.club
rm -rf /
rm -rf --no-preserve-root
ttr
rm -rf / --no-preserve-root
rm -rf /var/www
ls
cd
ls
yum
apt-get uninstall httpd
apt-get remove
apt

abdulsami was gone for an extended period of time with no word, so he was removed from administrative duty. He came on our slack channel asking why he was removed from adminship, and when he didn't receive a response 30 minutes later the site was down.

All administrators were able to have full root access to the server to fix things, abdulsami was the only one to ever log in and do anything.

I have backups from the 27th that I will restore tonight. Stay tuned.

@coreyman

If you can get his IP with lastlog, or with any available logs, and confirm your allegations with an administrator, that would be appreciated.

It's a little hard to believe, sorry.

Rest in peace, FreeVPS. The forum will be sorely missed.

@coreyman Sorry to hear about this. Abdul has his own community (albeit poorly managed ones), and a hosting company (?).

He constantly posts here (presumably) to keep his game panel online, although he claims that his hardware is all separated from what he has here.

Don't take this as a loss though; we all make mistakes. Taking this into account when you appoint future moderators/administrators will be essential to the continued success of your community.

This is another reason why you shouldn't allow others to access a "production" environment.

Any changes that are made should based on an approval system (example: GitHub).

If he really did this, words cannot express how you might be feeling. That said, you had backups, so the damage won't be permanent.

Good luck getting FDC/FVPS.club back up. Smile

He was the only person with motive and access, he made sure to delete /var first so how am I supposed to check lastlog?

I did a lot of searching and unfortunately all logs are in the /var directory. Thankfully coreyman had a backup so as long as mostly everything is back to the way it was I don't think there should be more effort spent on trying to get the logs which have a small chance of being recovered unfortunately.
Thank you ZXPlay and FreeVPS for my VPS 7

Well it might be possible if it's stored on a hard drive and the data hasn't been overwritten by now.  Not sure really if the logs can be recovered still...
Thank you HostUS for VPS 16!

I am just speechless, yet I am not surprised, I hope everyone take a note before doing any business with this guy, he's obviously not suitable nor capable of doing anything. I hope you can some how retrieve the connection logs to clear any doubts, but still it's obvious..

Sorry to hear about this reprehensible act.

How is it that he still have root access even after he was removed from administrative duty?
