Is PayPal trusted anymore?

Not sure what you mean Karatekid.  As far as I know my limit is the amount I have available in my debit card.  I can't spend more than that.  Once the balance in the card has reached nil, it can no longer be used.  I haven't got a relationship with PayPal where I was pre-approved for X limit.  My PayPal account is based on the Visa Card I have and the amount available in it sufficient to cover the purchases that are made.

@deanhills
I also raised my limit using a prepaid virtual visa card called "Paymaya" in my country.

The limit he is talking abobut is the paypal limit for spending cash. Even if you have 3000 usd in your bank account, you won't be able to spend more than 2500.

Click "see how much you can send with Paypal" on this area of your paypal myaccount. (Don't mind the dark theme)

Aha .... thanks for the enlightenment.  I should check how much I'm allowed to send with PayPal.  Didn't realize I was working with a limit, as probably all of my payments have been small ones.  I always assumed that my limit is how much funds I had in my prepaid card - not a limit that existed from PayPal.

As far I know, if your paypal account is verified you have no limits on the total amount of money you can transfer from your account.

This is true. My Paypal is verified and I have no limits. I verified it years ago so I don't know how the rules have changed in the meantime.

My thoughts too, but there may be different accounts that have different limits depending on how it is set up.  Prepaid may be different too.

I remember I had to purchase membership in order increase the amount of money I can transfer to my account. Verification was an old thing as I can remember.

I will give my personal opinion. I trust paypal all the way. I'm using this service for 2+ years and no problem until now. Even refund some money from an item that I bought on eBay and I didn't get the item on my home. I use the service to pay and to get payed. They have their comission but that is normal in this kind of services.
Talking about PTC, well is another thing. They don't trust PTC anymore and even block accounts to prevent fraud or things like that.

About this, I have my paypal verified and I didn't have to purchase membership. I verified it using a service in my country and with my personal data. With verified paypal you can buy in a lot of sites.
Thanks FreeVPS.us and Hostigation for VPS 18

@Goldengate

I dont remember Paypal offer memberships to be purchased. There are 3 types of accounts personal, business and premium. You can have 2 of these 3.
