Support Image Attachments/Uploads
#21
People seem to be assuming that if this feature is implemented the forum will slow down due of being flooding by images.

I don't think that's very likely. First of all, there's not much motivation for uploading images - you don't get extra rep, you don't get higher chances of getting VPS. Also, you kind of need some context for uploading images, for example tutorials, troubleshooting vps/computer issues, forum feature requests. If people are posting images unnecessarily, most of the time they are probably using images already online (thus have nothing to do with this suggested feature) or it would be removed as low-quality content (the moderators here seem to have a surprisingly high standard - sometimes - when it comes to low-quality content). Even if someone is acting maliciously and purposely slowing the forum by spamming images, it would be easier to grab them from the internet than uploading it themselves.

A more significant effect of this suggested feature would be that people who are already uploading images anyway will have an easier time doing so here.

Drag an image into editing window when we want to insert an image into post at correct location.

If you're using Chrome, all you need to do is search. I have this extension installed to upload images automatically to Imgur (right click):

I vote no on this. This protects our users privacy, plus the load is more faster.
Thanks For the VPS 7, and the VPS 9 FreeVPS.

Don't believe it's worth it. There are a lot of sites that you can use to host that are much easier, this would just clutter the forum with more code that isn't needed.

There's not much motivation for uploading images because it is not too easy to upload them now. User habit will change if we open the door for them. Users may be uploading images just because these images look beautiful, who knows, people can do it for different reasons.

Mods are human and we should not rely solely on some hard-working mods to combat spams. It is also not so fair to our mods because it will unnecessarily increase their workloads.

Honestly, is it really that much of a trouble to open another site and spend maybe 30 seconds on the rare occasion you need to upload an image? Kids these days....

I voted no, as the codebase is getting quite bloated at this point.

Hence I said the same earlier - it's not like adding more plugins equates to performance gains.

This one is much more better, http://www.mybboost.com/thread-release-mydropzone-1-0, but too bad it's not free.

Anyways, attachments seems to be disabled here and not always will a member upload an image here, it's mostly text here, so would seem a bit useless to have.
