Well for registrations still Godaddy is the best. Still nobody around can beat them. As for SPAM all you have to do it mark their mail as SPAM so those will go directly to SPAM folder. What I do like is NameSilo has really competitive renewal price which is more important for me. But what I don't know is how good their support it.

I have to admit Godaddy support is not what it used to be. I think they have removed all their experienced support staff and haired people from those call centers. Only think they can do is showing us a FAQ page related to our problem which we can find by our self. No longer you are getting satisfying answers.

Well, that's my point. It's not that I'm not capable of marking it as spam, it's that they use aggressive marketing tactics.

Plus, the interface is difficult to use, and is filled with random pop ups with promotional offers.

I find it annoying, and it is why I'm not with GoDaddy.
I have VPS 18 (Hostigation) and 24 (HostDare).

I totally understand that. I find it annoying. The thing is in my case, I don't want to spend about extra 200 usd because it makes me annoying. They are always being like that. if I find a better offer I would move to that provider without a hesitation. (Right now I'm checking about NameSilo, There is a good chance my domain protfilo will move there by end of the next year). Godaddy is not getting better.

But I still stand by my previous suggestion. Register your domain at Godaddy and then transfer it to NameCheap or NameSilo by end of the year. It would save you couple of dollars or Euros. It's the best solution if you buy domain frequently for your self or your clients. But if you just gonna buy only one or two domain in 10 years then no point.

@dudex

There is a point in transferring them to other providers even if you only have a few domains. The value of the service. It's not just the monetary price. There are tons of registrars that provide better value for your money.

Replying to this part btw "But if you just gonna buy only one or two domain in 10 years then no point."

Also btw, if you have 100 .com domains, you're gonna save almost 500 usd if you transfer to namesilo.

@Conan

Could you explain how it would save 500 usd for 100 domains at NameSilo ? Godaddy renewal price is 8.44 per .com domain with discount club and at NameSilo it's same without Discount club. So It would only same me about $130, which is the price of Discount club subscription.

Value and Price are relative stuff. But also depends on the product. When it comes to Domains price is what matters most. I haven't opened a support ticket at any registrar for nearly 4 years. They provide DNS Managements and they don't make a mess if we try to transfer the domains out. So for those who have bulk domains price is what matters. Otherwise Everyone would have moved out of Godaddy long time ago.

Well if you have different explanation about Value then I would like to hear about it.

I guess @Conan means youll save more at Namesilo if you need Whois Protection for your domain as whois protection on namesilo is free and they also offer discounts for bulk registration/renewal. Anyway, I often bought my domains at namecheap and namesilo too. Another (good) alternative is gandi.net , they also accept bitcoins. I love their new UI(#gandiv5) and their support is awesome. Although their registration and renewal is a bit high unlike their other competitor, gandi offers free whois protection + 5 Free mailbox for every domain with unlimited forwarding and aliases. Smile
Please excuse my English as this is not my native language.
Thank you Hostigation and FreeVPS for my VPS 18

I can't agree on this Conan.  As much as I like Namesilo, I've found at times that not all of its domains are competitive.  Like some are more expensive than at Namecheap.  Bottom line for me is that one should not get hung on any one domain registrar (I'm very guilty at doing exactly this  Tongueout ).  Like with the domainsbot.com Website I previously mentioned, it's always good to get a big picture view first, and then to check through the prices of the different registrars.  When one does that however, one should do the checking thoroughly, like the issue about GoDaddy charging extra for Private Ownership if Private Ownership would be very important to me.  That would automatically make the domain 10US$ more expensive.

Ditto Namecheap.  On average the second year of a domain is not too expensive in my experience, like not enough to justify the trouble of transferring a domain to a different Registrar.  But one has to do research, as every now and then I find Namecheap domain slightly more expensive than its competitors.

GoDaddy is a really good fit for most people – especially anyone who wants a cheap domain upfront, and wants phone support. However, I think it should be apparent that if you are building a website for the long term – your best bet is to go grab a domain name from Namecheap. If my experience has been correct – you won’t regret it.
