[VPS 21, 25] Closure of HostMada
#11
I have had very good experience with HostMada. Their services were excellent. It's sad that they are closing down and hope they will find something for future.

Many sponsors are shutting down, I hope we *FreeVPS.us* get more sponsors in days to come.

HostMada was a fairly good host, but I'm almost 100% sure it was the Asia locations (e.g Hong Kong) that ultimately brought HostMada down.
Well, it was definitely worth serving as a volunteer for their free hosting service, that's for sure Smile

Oh, and, to those who use the free hosting service: Backup now, because your data at this point is not guaranteed.
"That but this blow
Might be the be-all and the end-all here,
But here, upon this bank and shoal of time,
We'ld jump the life to come."

-- William Shakespeare

Rest in peace, FreeVPS. The forum will be sorely missed.

They did send an email out on the 22nd announcing the closure according to this thread - which would give user roughly 1 week time to backup their data - though I'm not sure if those who got their VPS via this site got that email or not.

Emails should have been sent to our members provided they had a valid email address associated with their control panel account. The provider sent the email out to all control panel users, which would even have included FreeVPS members' accounts under our staff account.

It is sad to know that one of the providers will shut down their services. I hope the users backed up their data so they won't have problems with future migrations to another vps provider.
Thanks FreeVPS.us and Hostigation for VPS 18

It's quite disappointing that another provider is shutting down. I wish for all the best for your future endeavors.

FreeVPS.us really needs more providers and what changes are happening to the second VPS thing?
Thank you HostUS for VPS 16!

We'll make an official announcement on the changes coming to the second VPS once the details are ironed out. It's not easy to try to provide a more equal playing field while not devaluing the contributions of long-time members.

HostMada was a great provider overall and I'm saddened to hear that they have to close. Any reason for the closure given?

I received an e-mail on 22 June.  Enormously well written with plenty of warning to move my Websites.  Even at closure stage when I was working with cPanel to move my Websites, speed and performance were as great as ever.  Kudos to the owner for that!  8-)

Dear Customer,

You are receiving this letter because you have one or more services hosted in one of our datacenters.

The purpose of this letter is to notify you that HostMada will be ceasing its operations on 30th June 2017.

It has been an hard decision; however as we have been running at a significant loss for many months this is a decision we can no longer postpone.

This means that all customer services with critical data in them that are hosted in our systems need to be migrated away by the 30th at the latest.

While we will make reasonable efforts to keep our systems online past this for the sake of migration, please note that we are unable to make any guarantees.

If you had pre-paid your service make sure to open a support ticket in order to get a partial refund for the remaining months, we'll elaborate them as soon as possible.

We would like to thank you for your continued trust over these years, please accept our apologies.

We wish you all the best for your continued success.

Thank you.
