Free NAT 384MB VPS
#1
Hey FreeVPS,

Now that I've restarted development of my custom VPS control panel, I decided to make use of it by creating a free VPS service.
Each container comes with:

- 384MB of RAM
- 512MB of vSwap
- 7GB of disk space
- 1 CPU core (fair share)
- Located in OVH Canada
- 20 NAT ports (19 standard, 1 SSH)
- Shared 100 Mbit/s port
- Reverse proxy with SSL available

This service is only available to FreeVPS VPS holders, and is setup instantly after the verification process has been completed (no surveys, just a user check).
IPv6 is currently setup upon request, as my panel doesn't support IPv6 blocks + networking yet. That'll be added in a future release.

Sign up here: https://prod1.andrew-hong.me/vpscp/freevps/
If everything works out alright, I'll add additional servers onto the roster.
Any support requests should be sent to andrew@andrew-hong.me, or by private message.

Thanks!

Please note that this is unmanaged. I will answer any support requests pertaining to the host node. If you don't know how to use a NAT-based VPS, I suggest you look up "lowendspirit" and its forums. They have helpful tutorials to help you get started.

Cool! A few things I have noticed:
- in the setup process, the link redirecting to create the VPS, uses your own FreeVPS ID rather than the one the client has entered earlier.
- I did believe I had to change my uID (see above), and so I did... Resulting I can not login, keeps saying invalid details.

Really neat setup. I don't like the fact that you have to put a verification token that is VISIBLE in your forum signature - if there were an alternate way of verifying account ownership (email verification?), that would be great.

EDIT: Here's another issue: I just tried to signup and I got this error: Sorry, but you've already created a VPS. Each user may only use 1 VPS at any time, sorry.
EDIT 2: What @Rick said is correct, you have to change the userid in the URL to make the VPS create.

Addressing some of your concerns:

The verification token in your forum signature:
- This can be removed after your VPS has been created. I've updated the page to make this clear.
- I don't use email addresses as to limit creation to users verified by staff on FreeVPS.

The User ID bug:
- I've fixed the issue; I accidentally left a value hard coded and it would always run against my user ID. This has been fixed.

Thanks for the help.

Nice thing you have done there, in this way this service will not get abused too since it is limited to this community's user.
However the details that it gave me does not work, it says invalid details.

@Lampard

Fixed another bug in the moment :p
Try again, I've cleared your user record and it should work again.

Okay, it is working. @FlamesRunner thank you.
The control panel looks so similar to SolusVM, is this made by you? Looks really good Smile
Is there any chance to get source code for it? I would really love to have this to control my personal VPS.

@Lampard

Already received a few requests for this Wink
The only thing stopping me from releasing this is the fact that IPv6 isn't supported and network configuration is limited at the moment.
Hence I've decided to hold off until the panel is complete (or at least finished enough) to release.

Let me try this out. Cheese

Which virtualization is it for this VPS?
Hope your panel's development works out well.
Thank you HostUS for VPS 16!

@IEpicDestroyer

It runs on OpenVZ. I plan on supporting LXC/LXD in a future release, but KVM/Xen, I'm not sure I'll add those.

No, it's not that exciting, but hey, it works :p
