lol the exact same thing happened to me a few months ago when I decided I was going to make the absolute limit number of posts needed for the month - i.e. 15 posts.  One of my posts must have got deleted, and I ended up with a PM by an Admin that I missed a post.  I was unaware of course as we don't get notified when our posts get deleted.

By the same token and playing the Devil's Advocate here, the responsibility for making the right number of posts is ours.  Technically we should check on those posts on the last day of the month.  Which is easy to do.  Since then I went back to making the maximum number of posts, i.e. I'm always a few posts in excess of what is needed for the month to cover all eventualities.  Worst case scenario once there was a thread about a new free hosting service that I'd made a few posts in in a discussion about access.  Someone from freevps.us had complained about the service not being quite on board, and the thread got canned.  I lost a few posts in it.  I wasn't advised of course, and had to figure it out, but fortunately my excess posting more than amply covered the loss of the posts.

@deanhills

Regarding your worst-case scenario situation, I've decided to handle those threads differently now. instead of deleting the OP, I'll likely just blank it and lock the thread.

For the same reason your files are not permanently deleted when you don't keep the shift key pressed, the posts are not permanently deleted either. They're kept in the database for a little while until and then purged in bulk. To prevent a dumb or revenge driven staff member to permanently remove all or a large portion of posts on the forum. But also to allow further debate on them or to be presented as evidence in case of something. Think of it as a soft delete.

Because you and many other members of this forum (including me) spam the hell out of this forum at the end of the month (or before we receive the notification) to fill our gaps. The posts that are soft deleted will stay there for a little while. You can actually identify them if you go through your own posts, you should see them marked as deleted or unavailable. That being said, the script also includes them in the count because the forum script returns them when queried for posts of a certain user. I might try to look for a workaround for these scenarios and see if I can come up with something. Although I might need some help from a staff member if I can't reproduce it locally or I'm too lazy to setup an identical forum with the exact same theme. Although it might take some time until I get to actually do it.

Many thanks to FreeVPS for VPS #13 and ZXPlay for providing such an amazing service. (Read: How to get a VPS here.)

@"S.L.C" actually, staff members can perma-delete posts, it's just our policy to only soft-delete. The only time something gets prema deleted is if purge spammer is used (say on a bot).

Regarding testing, I can't make any promises, but contact me if you want help.

not really. We simply need to set an official timezone for the forum. After the business of who's going to be the next admin is sorted out, I'll see if I can get a discussion going in the staff chat about that.

This is something I talked about a while back here. It didn't really solve the problem. It still happens; but I've learned to deal with posts being made a few hours after the deadline since they were made in the member's own time zone on time.
