So we have a) by far not enough resources to run a minimal Rust server and b) running Windows application in Wine on Linux in a software virtualized container. Point b is the worst you can do.

Are you sure this is a problem with low RAM?

@javady

RAM is just one of many problems.

1. Not enough RAM
2. Not enough Swap (wouldn't help anyway as it is slow)
3. Running Windows application on Linux in Wine
4. Using a OpenVZ VPS
5. Shared CPU power (probably meaning decreased performance overall - everything takes longer)

And this are a few issues. There are more but this are probably related to how your game server is setup and how everything else was setup by you. This whole idea to run a Windows game server that needs a lot of resources on a tiny Linux VPS inside Wine in OpenVZ is hell of a mess.

If I give you the vncserver username and password, you can check and find the problem?

@javady

Read my post again. Think about it. If you still can't understand what it says I can't help it.

I can sum it up into a single sentence: Don't attempt to host a resource hungry Windows game server through Wine on Linux in a software virtualized very small VPS.

You could try the native Rust Linux server. That's all I could think of but given the small resources you have it probably won't work good.

@javady try using Google cloud platform. Their computation engine (VPS) gives free $300 worth credits. Start up a linux server with 4-8 GB ram and you're good for a year or some months. Dont go greedy and get a beast windows VPS cus they will charge if you you cross your free credits. Goodluck
Thank you HostUS and FreeVPS for a VPS15  Wink
