ZXPlay/ZXHost Termination Notice
#11
Ouch, since it was an unanticipated failure, that means that some users haven't even have a chance to backup. I hope no one lost crucial data from this.

Sad to see another sponsor leave.

One of the powerful VPS provider's sponsorship termination. It's actually not good.

It's sad to see a good sponsorship getting terminated like that. But we had it coming like in last September. Random downtimes started happening and then suddenly it fully went down. I guess the provider was on brink of closing down the business. Probably lost good part of long term customers too. Even since middle of last year we have been keep loosing sponsors.

When I won a VPS 1 in last November I was so happy. Did not expect that the VPS was only online for around 2 days in December and was then deleted without notice.

What a 'wonderful' experience for me about Zxplay. Smile

Anyway, a bad news for losing another sponsor here. Hope that we will get new sponsor(s) that offer KVM soon.

"Deleted without notice" is a absolute wrong wording in this case.

As explained in the screenshot of the ticket the storage where ZXPlay has stored the VPS disks was destroyed by a bug in CEPH and couldn't be fully recovered. So in other words your VPS disk was affected by the storage failure and couldn't be recovered.

The VPS was removed from SolusVM, yes. But only because of the issue above (also explained in the ticket that VPSs that were lost due to the failure were removed from the control panel).

Of course I do agree that communication between ZXPlay, us and even paying customers has been very bad. ZXPlay however has tried everything to recover what is possible and setup new nodes. I don't even want to know what hell of a work it was and how much time it has eaten (given that I've seen ticket replies to paying customers that were made in very late night/early morning hours where normal people still sleep). He recognized his mistakes about lack of communication and also appologized for this though.

Hmm... but we didn't receive notification before VPS deletion, did we?

And what I see is the explanations were received after we contacted the provider for query, not that they contacted us before (or even after) the deletion.

So I think "deleted without notice" is a fair description of what actually happened.

Not trying to be harsh, but just came to point out the fact.

I agree with HR that this was not a case of VPSs being deleted - delete refers to a deliberate act and none of it was deliberate.  More like VPSs "lost" through a software bug and or an admin error or both and him making a decision finally to not reinstate the VPSs that had been lost at FreeVPS.  When I read reports by those affected by the issue at Lowendtalk.com looks like he tried to move some VPSs from an old version of software to a new version and the software bug happened after he had done the move causing the VPSs to disappear.  He did make a genuine attempt with the software developers to fix the problem with an upgrade and get the data back but this turned out to be an impossible task for the developers in the end.   In his defense he did do detailed reports at Lowendtalk.com so if you wanted to get up to date there was a very live discussion thread going on there with some of his customers reporting back and very occasionally he himself.  The discussions at Lowendtalk are damaging to him however as they reveal him as a lone Admin  with no support.  He's the only one looking after the support tickets of ZX|Host and since he can't look after all of them replies and feedback are happening mostly on a hit and miss basis.  We're probably lucky that we finally heard from him.

In retrospect if I were him and intending to carry on with the business as he stated he is going to do with new packages on offer for 2018, I'd have stayed with FreeVPS.  Maybe reduced the number of VPSs and repackaged them, but instead of responding to a Lowendtalk thread, he could have made great allies here at FreeVPS.  Would have made a very powerful discussion to figure out his software problems - he'd have found himself much less alone than he thought he was.

He could had been a one man show but till last couple of months of last year he was doing a great job keeping his hosting service in top grade. Its a real.unfortunate one mistake nearly ruined his business .

This is very bad news.

ZXPlay provide great VPS for example VPS with 4GB ram, 8GB ram and VPS that has unmetered bandwidth.
Price in digital ocean is 40$/month which is very high!!!
These VPS have highest competition in freeVPS.

This is a big lost of freeVPS company.

Now, highest performance VPS go to GalaxyHostPlus.
