Can I use Zpanel on freevps?

Back on topic. The question was whether he can use ZPanel on a VPS given by this community. To which the answer is almost yes (depending on provider TOS). For debates on VestaCP vs ZPanel and whether VestaCP's theme is an issue. Feel free to branch out. Otherwise this gets quarantined.

Check Kloxo-MR. That one looks pretty much similar to cPanel. I don't know how things goes there now since I haven't used it for several years. VirtualMin has some good skins.

@deanhills

Doesn't VestaCP has skins which makes it more alive looking ?

Agreed and apologies if I strayed off the topic.  Have to ask the staff of FreeVPS whether the use of the ZPanel script is legal?  ZPanel is a proprietary script that belongs to Hostwinds, the use of which is restricted by Hostwinds to its customers only. It was sold by the lead developer of the ZPanel script to Hostwinds in 2014 with the understanding that the owner has completely released Zpanel to Hostwinds.  The rest of the team then went on to fork the ZPanel script to Sentora - but from what I can see it's not been that very successful and if one Googles it there's a warning at Webhostingtalk about security holes in Sentora

I'd say in light of information on the Web use of Zpanel should be discouraged as (1) we don't have the permission from the owner Hostwinds to use it - it is a proprietary panel, (2) if we still want to use it, then as @FlamesRunner pointed out, the public version of zpanel hasn't been supported since 2014 so there's no support for it and it can be a security risk , and (3) many others in this thread pointed out much better alternatives as VPS free panel scripts have made huge development strides since 2014 whereas Zpanel and Sentora have stood still - Zpanel because it no longer is being developed for the public and Sentora because it failed to make it.

Given all the replies here I think the main and actual question behind this topic has been answered already by different members.
