Disk Space 200 GB
RAM: 3 GB RAM
IP Addresses: 2x IPv4 & /80 IPv6
Virtualization: OpenVZ
Monthly Traffic: 2 TB
Connection: 1 GBit/s

And a $16/year one with 1 GB RAM.

By looking at those spec and comparing it with one VPS 18 cost ($42/year), it's clearly better option than VPS 18.

And which company is that? I am really glad that FreeVPS isn't going away soon, I will support any way I can for this community. It has helped me so much I cannot put into words...

Didn't know that KuJoe was providing the hosting.  That is reassuring though.  I've got a free hosting account of his that is the fastest shared hosting account I have, even with its location being in the US.  That guy is a magician with servers.

I'm really asking why FreeVPS need the second fvps.us domain. I, as a newbie, and I guess every newcomers, search for "Free VPS" on Google, because it's straight to the point that they want "Free VPS", I guess we don't need that second domain.

Also, I was wondering, why Free VPS doesn't run their service on the VPS that they get from sponsors? Maybe it will be good tho, so you don't really have to pay for hosting.. or the other reason? I still don't get the point.

Hosting FreeVPS on sponsor servers isn't a good idea for a couple of reaons:

- If the sponsor deadpools. FreeVPS is lost. Completely preventable situation.

- SecureDragon is run by a reputable company (LET user @KuJoe) and will generally not suffer downtime. Why change it?

- It may be against sponsor terms

Rest in peace, FreeVPS. The forum will be sorely missed.

The fvps.us domain has been used to provide shortlinks to threads, posts, announcements and so on in the past. Sooner or later in the past it stopped working after some MyBB update(s) broke it. @dmmcintyre3 kept the domain all the time I guess and paid for it. It redirects to freevps.us though.

@FlamesRunner

We're mostly likely going to switch to Hetzner's CX11 instance which is a lot cheaper than the SecureDragon service and has better specifications.

For everyone who's asking when the VPS 18s will be terminated: we don't know it, yet. The topic will be updated once we have news (we did mention that in the OP...).

once we have a steady revenue stream again, we'll look into other options for paid VPS plans if necessary.

Can you begin the transfer process? I’d like to have my VPS 18 transferred to my AnyNode account (and I’ll pay for it).

@doghouch

We cannot do or offer transfers. The VPSs are created through reseller resources. They're not products in the billing panel or similar.

You will have to buy service at AnyNode and migrate all necessary files from your VPS 18 to your AnyNode VPS.

@Hidden Refuge

You could always pick up some RamNode boxes. They're reliable as can be.

Also, as your reseller is based on SolusVM, it is completely possible to have the host simply reassign the virtual server to another account. They can then import the virtual server into WHMCS and into a client account.

Great news in that case Smile .

Maybe @doghouch can PM me their AnyNode client e-mail address and VPS 18 details like IP, SolusVM username and so on. I could open a ticket and ask for migration.

When the situation gets better for FreeVPS, maybe rent a ~$15 Kimsufi server once it's on sale and run OVZ or KVM containers on them with NAT IPs with a reverse http/https proxy for web traffic. But for now, lets hope ads bring in enough money again. There's probably not going to be enough containers for everyone now, haven't seem that happen before.
Thank you HostUS for VPS 16!
