What is spam?

This whole thread is basically a summary of the posts in the thread How Not To Spam In Forum by alprins, and it was written to be an extension to the rules. All credit goes to alprins, dmmcintyre3, happyworld, luis123456 and TheUninvited.

-Lanuage:
If you don't speak English well, compose your post on Google Translate and then convert it to English. I promise you it will look better.

-Make a Point/ Be descriptive:
Instead of saying "Yea it looks nice" say why / what you like about it. Such as "Yes, I like it because the background really goes well with the content and the fonts".

-Check how long your post is:
If you post is less than 2-3 sentences then you should probably consider revising it because anything under 2 sentences is usually not very descriptive.

-Check your spelling/grammar:
If your post looks like "YeA iT iss VERYYYY graat" people are probably going to think you are just writing random stuff however if you write "Yea it is very great" that looks a little better doesn't it?

-Don't copy lots of text from somewhere and put it in a post for extra points. It will get found.

- In addition to not copy what other people write and paste it into our post. Try to write something original (or at least in your own words).
- Read carefully about what is the topic of the thread before you post anything.
- If you're not going to read ALL of the topic (shame on you!), at the very least read the first post and the lasts (do not be lazy! -o-)
- Read what are you going to post before doing so (You have don`t have a idea the amount of mistakes this post had before posting it. Was completely unpresentable!. Well, more than now).
- Add personal experiences about what is being discussed to contribute to the discussion.
- Learn even a little about a subject before say something.
- Write always with humility, whether it is an issue that not much is known by you, and also to correct anything wrong that someone else wrote (and politeness, never, ever, forget politeness).
- See what you can do to make a thread to become a passionate debate.

-Do not spam by writing 2-3 words.

-Translators do not translate jargon, and badly written words, so the end result can be confusing.

-All the posts in this thread about the food spam are spam.

-Don't quote excessively
Excessive quoting IMO, is when you quote posts which are irrelevant to your post or when you quote a ton of text. If you need to quote that much text to get your point across, its fine, but that is very rarely the case.

Excessive quoting isn't really spam IMO. I see it more as an apart thing, since spamming is more of an entirely wasted post, whereas excessive quoting is just a partially wasted post IMO. I'll put your post in the rules though so people will still have some kind of idea what excessive quoting actually is.

What if you quote a quote in like 12 quotes, but you want to include them all?
#5
People should learn the use of @ perhaps. Laugh

And also, to avoid over quoting we could just use the username of that person to call his/her attention that you are replying to him/her.

If there are too many quotes, then just ignore the irrelevant one's and just quote the main idea. I mean instead of quoting the whole word just the phrase or word could be enough I guess.

Meh, the problem with @'s is that sometimes your post creates a new page. That's not really handy either :/.

If it's relevant to the conversation, it's cool.

If you quote 12 posts but are only replying to 1, then its excessive quoting.

You forgot to link to this: http://freevps.us/thread-462-post-5008.html#pid5008

Translators do not translate jargon, and badly written words, so the end result can be confusing. Always translate word per word, and try to get the understanding, all by yourself.

I love doing that, and starting the "carnage".

Some (not the majority) will miss it and are there to start passionate, true debates, about a good script or a bad provider, hence the name "missyposts". I have been doing this for a year or so. Just PM me if you feel it goes too out of band, although something I recommend you is: Do not read my posts until all the necessary edits have been done! Sometimes I also might commit errors too.
Spam? What do you mean by spam? I need free host!
